Description:
Vase and base were made from a solid piece of Magnolia wood turned to 1/16" inch. After the piece was turned on a lathe, the piece was sculptured by cutting out sections by hand. There are multiple fish, seaweed and shell images around the vessel. The piercing of some seaweed give the vessel more depth. Vessel was displayed on "Talk of the Town", Channel 5, Nashville, TN.

Description:
Vase and base were made from a solid piece of Boxelder wood turned to 1/16" inch. Flowers design on top of vessel was hand carved. The thistle was textured by using a wood burner before the addition of watercolor paints. The butterfly was airbrushed with transparent acrylic paints. The streaks of red are natural in Boxelder wood.

Vase was made from a solid piece of Boxelder wood turned to 1/16" inch. The natural streaks of red were incorporated into the design by covering the red with layers of blue and green transparent acrylic paints. The vessel was part of the Tennessee Arts and Craft Association exhibit at the Frists Center of the Visual Arts Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.

Vase was made from Maple wood turned to 1/16" inch. The spiral base was hand carved. Beside wood texturing and piercing, gold leaf was used as highlight on the front side. Prior to airbrushing the surface with transparent acrylic paint the surface was bleached.
